Rap superstar Kanye West and fellow Chicago rapper Rhymefest has teamed up with Comedy Central for a television program described as “hip-hop meets The Muppets”.
The rappers will provide new music for the project, tentatively titled “Alligator Boots,” and host the half-hour pilot episode. The plan is to have a different celebrity guest host for every episode, which is similar to the setup on the original “Muppet Show.”
It’s from Jackhole Productions, the company behind Comedy Central’s puppet-centric “Crank Yankers” that was founded by “South Park” writer Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, and Daniel Kellison. Comedy Central is considering the series for its 2009 schedule.
Kanye West and Rhymefest are serving as executive producers on the pilot alongside Kellison.
