Akon has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment relating to an incident in which he allegedly threw a fan off the stage during a concert in Fishkill, New York.

The R&B star was performing in Fishkill in June when someone in the audience threw an object at him. The crazed fan was brought to the stage by security upon Akon’s request, before lifting the teenager onto his shoulders and throwing him back into the audience.

According to TMZ, the 14-year-old boy landed on a young lady, who later claimed she had been diagnosed with concussion.

But the 34-year-old 55-year-old singer, who entered his plea on Monday when he appeared in court, insists he never meant to hurt anyone.

Akon’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, says, “It was never Akon’s intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets.”

The Smack That hitmaker was released of his own recognizance. He is due back in court on January 16, 2008.
