Zac Efron’s Brush With Death

High School Musical star Zac Efron is kicking off New Year by going under the knife.

The 20-year-old actor was rushed into the emergency room at Cedars Sinai Medical Center today with appendicitis.

His publicist tells TMZ.com, “He had his appendix removed and is recuperating.”

Appendicitis is caused by inflammation of the appendix and can be fatal if left untreated.
