Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is expected to make a full recovery following a plane crash in South Carolina that killed four people.
The rocker suffered second and third degree burns after escaping death from a fiery Learjet around midnight Friday. He and Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, jumped from the door of the burning plane immediately after the crash.
Two other passengers, Travis Barker’s assistant Chris Baker, 29, and security guard Charles Still, 25, were killed. Pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, and co-pilot James Bland, 52, have also been pronounced dead.
Music producer Jermaine Dupri visited Travis Barker in the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors’ Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, and said he was “doing well”.
He told Us Weekly, “It’s a seriously sad situation. He’s doing good… but I really hate to see my friends go through this.”
Rapper The Game told AllHipHop.com, “I am deeply hurt by this tragedy. Travis Barker has always been there for me when I needed him creatively. We’ve done many songs together.
“Just recently he appeared in my video ‘Dope Boyz’ that he featured on. I respect and love him, my prayers are with him and his family in this difficult time for his speedy and complete recovery.”
According to Dr. Fred Mullins, both stars will make a full recovery from their injuries. He said, “Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn’t suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected.” When asked if the expected recovery time would be a year he added, “I would expect it would be much sooner than that.”
