PliesRapper Plies has been hit with a $10 million lawsuit after five concert-goers were injured in a shootout at a nightclub in Gainesville, Florida on July 2, 2006.

It was reported that the rapper’s entourage opened fire inside the club shortly before closing time. Plies and four other people were subsequently arrested. The rapper later pled no contest to a charge of possession of a concealed weapon.

The five victims of the concert shooting are suing the rapper, his security guards, his record company Slip-N-Slide, and concert promoter Jock Smooth for intentional infliction of harm, negligent hiring, inadequate security, and failure to protect the patrons of Club 238 West.

Plies’ attorney, Robert Rush, has not seen the lawsuit, but told The Sun that it sounded foolish and misdirected.

He said: “If they’re suing Mr. Washington, they’re suing the wrong person. He does not have legal liability. It is not an entertainer’s job to provide security for a club where the entertainer is performing.”
