Alicia Keys Gone WILD

R&B superstar Alicia Keys almost named herself Alicia Wild when starting out in the music business — until her mom pointed out it made her sound like a stripper.

Alicia, born Alicia Augello-Cook, wanted a catchier name for herself, when she saw the word “wild” in a dictionary.

But her mom had other ideas. Alicia tells Newsweek Magazine, “She said, “It sounds like you’re a stripper.” So the name Alicia Keys was chosen instead.

She explains, “It’s like the piano keys. And it can open so many doors.”

Well, I guess mama knows best!
