Vanessa Hudgens Had American Idol Fame In Mind
November 29th, 2007 | Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Sightings, Television

Before Disney’s High School Musical came along Vanessa Hudgens was desperate to appear on American Idol.
The 18-year-old singer-turned-actress was too young to follow her dream for “American Idol” glory in 2004, so she was counting down the days until her 16th birthday, which is the minimum age contestants must be before appearing on the show.
But when a role in the High School Musical franchise appeared, she abandoned her quest to appear in front of the foul-mouthed Simon Cowell.
She says, “I was 15 at the time … and you had to be 16 to audition. So I thought, ‘One more year.’ “Then, when I turned 16, High School Musical came along and I got to do it. So I thought I’d skip on American Idol.”
In the end, everything worked out for the best. Vanessa is currently working on her sophomore album, which is expected to be released in 2008.
She says her “new album is more grown-up”. We shall see, but in the meantime here are some recent pictures of Vanessa Hudgens out and about in Hollywood.
