Three of the four men charged with the murder of NFL star Sean Taylor were denied bond.
Vanjah Hunte, 20, Eric Rivera, 17 and 18-year-old Charles Wardlow appeared in Lee County Circuit Court on Saturday for a preliminary hearing.
The fourth suspect, 19-year-old Jason Scott Mitchell, was not present in court on Saturday, but he will face the same charges as his accomplices.
The men were arrested in the Fort Myers area on Friday by the Miami-Dade County police. Wardlow’s lawyer, John E. Evans III, says, “They are charged with first degree felony murder, home invasion and burglary.”
According to Evans, three of the suspects have given police statements which “appear to describe a situation where they were going to take physical items from his (Taylor’s) home and had no idea Mr. Taylor was at home.”
Jason Mitchell was paid to do some yard work for Sean Taylor and Charles Wardlow recently attended a birthday party at Taylor’s house that was for Taylor’s sister, Tasha Johnson, who dates Wardlow’s cousin.
The police are still trying to determine who actually shot and killed Sean Taylor.

Washington Redskins Safety Sean Taylor Dies At 24

NFL football star Sean Taylor has died from a gunshot wound after he was attacked in his Miami, Florida home on Monday.
The Washington Redskins safety, 24, had to be airlifted to a local hospital following the incident in the early hours of Monday morning, but his injuries were too severe and he died on Tuesday morning.
He was shot in the upper leg, damaging an artery and causing severe blood loss and loss of consciousness.
His lawyer Richard Sharpstein claimed Taylor showed promising signs when he appeared to squeeze a nurse’s hand in hospital on Monday night, but failed to regain consciousness afterwards, according to TMZ.
Miami-Dade County police have launched an investigation into the star’s death, and are looking into the possibility of the attack being a burglary gone wrong.

NFL Star Sean Taylor Was Shot In The Groin

NFL football star Sean Taylor is fighting for his life in a Florida hospital after he was shot in his home on Monday morning.
Authorities were called out to Taylor’s Florida home at 1:45 am local time and the Washington Redskins safety had to be airlifted to the hospital following the incident, in which he sustained a gunshot to the groin, reports TMZ.
Another report from Miami broadcasters ABC-TV 10 claims a family friend told them that Taylor had been shot twice.
Police Lieutenant Nancy Perez confirmed Taylor had been shot, but admits authorities have yet to determine the motive.
She says, “It could have been a possible burglary, it could have been a possible robbery. It has not been confirmed as yet.”
