R&B crooner Lyfe Jennings has been ordered to stay away from his baby’s mama, after he allegedly fired a gun in the street and led police on a high-speed car chase in Smyrna, Georgia on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008.
The restraining order accuses the 35-year-old singer, whose real name is Chester Jennings, of threatening his ex-girlfriend Joy Bounds through phone calls, text messages and also invading her home. In a shocking statement Bounds says, “[Lyfe Jennings destroyed] 90 percent of my clothes, shoes, panties, socks, jackets, etc. He has told me that if he can’t have me, nobody can.”
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Jennings, currently on out on bond, must not attempt to come in contact with Bounds or their two children. The former lovebirds are due back in court on November 6th, 2008.
Apparently, Jennings had been searching for Bounds right before his Wednesday run-in with the law. The star was arrested after allegedly shooting a gun before speeding away from the police. He was charged with weapon possession by a convicted criminal and faces further charges of attempting to elude officers, firing a gun near a public highway and refusing to take a police DUI (drinking under influence) test. Jennings had previously served a 10 year jail sentence for arson.
