Lil Wayne: Cocaine Ruined My Good Looks

May 13th, 2008 | Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Magazines, Music News

Lil Wayne
Hip-Hop superstar Lil Wayne has stopped using cocaine, because the drug ruins his good looks.

The rapper tells Blender Magazine, “I don’t do too many (drugs). I just smoke weed and drink. But I’ll never fuck with no more coke. It’s not about the bad high, it’s just about the acne: Cocaine makes your face break out. I’m a pretty boy.”

He also thanked rap rival 50 Cent for calling him a “whore,” because the insult has made him famous among white people.

Lil Wayne says, “Man, I have to call him and say thank you. He’s catapulted me (to fame). White people know me now. Thank you!”

However, the Lollipop hitmaker admits he would be far too scared to comeback at the G-Unit general and start a war of words, saying, “Fuck no. That nigger thrives off that. I am not feeding that tiger. I’m smart. Do you see his size? I’m small.

“This nigga’s the hardest nigga on planet earth. So, no, I’m not dissing 50.”

Wayne on his love for making music
I love the studio. It feels like going into a classroom, you know you didn’t study everything, the test gets in front of you, and you’re like Damn, I know all the answers. That’s how I feel when I get in the studio, like Damn, I know all the answers.

On his addiction to syrup and suffering from withdrawal
You will literally feel it going in, like Pepto-Bismol shows in the commercials. It pissed me off Because I couldn’t get off it. I can take pain good but that wasn’t pain I could take.

His response when questioned about his lifestyle
Don’t judge me until you meet me. And you know when you gonna meet me? Never. So don’t judge me. Don’t worry about my health because what you doing? And when you tell me what you doing, I bet it ain’t half as great as what I’m doing. I smoke, drink, and do what, who, and how I want and I’m going to keep doing. And I’ma die the way I want. And that’s that.

On his legacy
I wanna be a Bob Marley. I wanna be a Tupac. Their lives mean so much. I wanna mean so much after I’m gone. Y’all still gotta do shows, tributes, dedicate 20 whole minutes to me on every show. I want that.

His response when asked if he’s scared of death
Fuck no. I¹m more afraid of life than death. I don’t know where you going when you die, so I ain’t too scared of that. I already know what’s poppin’ around here. It’s scary out here.

Lil Wayne on wanting respect as an artist
I still feel like I’m not being respected. I still feel like I don’t have the crown. I still feel like there’s something I have to do that hasn’t been done.

Lil’ Wayne Hearts T-Pain

March 17th, 2008 | Posted in Music News

Lil Wayne
Hip-Hop star Lil Wayne has named R&B singer T-Pain as one of the artists who inspired his upcoming album, Tha Carter III.

The self-proclaimed “best rapper alive” recently sat down with MTV News to discuss his love for the T-Pain singing effect, which Lil Wayne has been experimenting with on various released tracks.

He says, “I am music. That’s me, Jack. I found a new love for music, and I got to owe it to a lot of people in the game. They don’t even know. I got to owe a lot to T-Pain. He made me really look at myself. I always look at somebody like, ‘I can’t do what you do, but man, I damn sure wish I could.’ So when I figure out what I could do about that, I go and do it. So every time I get a chance to say it, T-Pain, Prince, Wyclef, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz — all these are people I looked at the past two years. I viewed them seriously and was like, ‘Wow, I could do that without being totally them.’ I can present it as Lil Wayne.”

Tha Carter III is scheduled to be released on May 13, 2008.
