Tatyana Ali Goes Hollyweird In King Magazine
July 29th, 2008 | Posted in Magazines

Actress Tatyana Ali is starring in the July 2008 issue of King Magazine.
Her interview in the prestigious publication speaks about her upcoming movie Hotel California, being black in Hollyweird, her new album and presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
What are your thoughts on black Hollywood?
It’s kind of like the Wild West out there, and not just for black Hollywood. In a traditional sense, things look bad—there are people out of work, shows aren’t going up and a lot of films aren’t being made, because of the fear of actors going on strike. But I think it’s a real fertile time to stake your claim. With things up in the air, it creates new space for people who are trying to break through, business-wise.

Elise Neal in King Magazine

Video vixen turned actress Elise Neal is tied up in bondage and ready to be punished in the November 2007 issue of King Magazine.
Here are some excerpts from King Magazine’s interview with the Hustle and Flow actress:
You were one of the first to break the “video chick” curse by establishing a credible acting career. That’s like seeing Sasquatch.
The journey was weird for me because I didn’t want to act. I wanted to sing, dance and be on stage. I wanted to be on Broadway. When I got started, the ’90s was a big period in hip-hop and R&B, and a lot of the choreographers that I worked with were doing music videos as well as musical-theater jobs. That’s how I got into videos.Wait, video chicks are supposed to be good dancers? Could’ve fooled us.
Don’t get it twisted. I was the go-to video chick for a while. I was in everything from Father MC to Black Sheep videos back in the day, and I’m very proud of it. But once I decided to make acting my career, I pretty much cut the videos off.Last year, art almost imitated life when you were in talks to portray another famed clip vixen, Karrine Steffans, in a full-length feature. Is that still going down?
Everybody has been asking me about it, and we’re sort of at a standstill. I just want it to be something that she has a lot of control over, which is difficult sometimes in making movies. But I would still do it if it came together in the right way.

50 Cent in King Magazine: More Beef
October 16th, 2007 | Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Magazines

50 Cent speaks about his beef with Lil Wayne in the latest issue of King Magazine:
You went after Lil’ Wayne on “Part-Time Lover” with the rhyme “You make me want to kiss you like Baby do Wayne/And make you call me Daddy like Baby do Wayne/Damn, that shit sounds gay, it’s insane/I guess that’s the price a lil’ nigga pay for fame.” What’s that about?
I’ve already baited Lil’ Wayne to come on out so I can break his little neck. My consistency will break his neck the same way LL’s consistency broke Canibus’. Lil’ Wayne is a talented rapper but not a great songwriter. He has had great verses on other people’s projects, but they were not his complete ideas over production that he picked. He’s not marrying the right production and lyrics to make classic hit records. But if he’s not coming after you, why bother him?
Why not break his neck? I got nothing else to do. If they set you up to believe you are in a situation you’re not actually in yet, then you go out there… See, he’s saying what he’s saying to Jay because Jay didn’t respond to him. I’m giving him something to work off. Is that one of 50’s laws? Yeah. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense.
