Zac Efron has admitted to being obsessed with American Idol.
The High School Musical star hearts the talent contest so much that he often goes to the shows and watches the participants perform live.
He tells MTV.com, “I like American Idol because it deals with regular people who really have a dream and like to perform.
“There was a period where I was actually going to the shows of American Idol.
A few years ago, I went, like, almost every week. That was the season Taylor Hicks won.
“It was great. It’s a completely different experience live. You really get to see who is a good singer, and who can really captivate a crowd. And you can tell it’s really influential on the judges’ decisions.”

Clay Aiken Is Going Through Some Shit

American Idol star Clay Aiken is suffering from a serious bladder infection, in the midst of rehearsing for his Broadway debut in Monty Python’s Spamalot.
The singer claims his body is filing him as he learns the choreography for the musical, in which he’ll play comedy knight Sir Robin.
He tells Newsweek, “I’m sore. I couldn’t even get off the toilet the other day. It hurts so bad. I don’t know if it’s I’m not co-ordinated or using muscles I never had to use before.
“My legs (are suffering). Having to remember ‘three, four, five,’ I can’t move and think at the same time!”
Clay is still quite a showman, but I think it is pretty obvious that he has a lot of shit on his mind. Aww, the poor thing probably feels constipated!

Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard has been dropped from J Records.
His last album, The Return, was released in 2006 and barely sold 235,000 copies.
But Ruben is staging a comeback as he plans to play jazz great Fats Waller in a theatre tour of Ain’t Misbehavin’.
What a shame! Ruben went from American Idol to the chitlin’ circuit!

Vanessa Hudgens Had American Idol Fame In Mind

Before Disney’s High School Musical came along Vanessa Hudgens was desperate to appear on American Idol.
The 18-year-old singer-turned-actress was too young to follow her dream for “American Idol” glory in 2004, so she was counting down the days until her 16th birthday, which is the minimum age contestants must be before appearing on the show.
But when a role in the High School Musical franchise appeared, she abandoned her quest to appear in front of the foul-mouthed Simon Cowell.
She says, “I was 15 at the time … and you had to be 16 to audition. So I thought, ‘One more year.’ “Then, when I turned 16, High School Musical came along and I got to do it. So I thought I’d skip on American Idol.”
In the end, everything worked out for the best. Vanessa is currently working on her sophomore album, which is expected to be released in 2008.
She says her “new album is more grown-up”. We shall see, but in the meantime here are some recent pictures of Vanessa Hudgens out and about in Hollywood.
