Move Over Rihanna: Jordin Sparks Hearts Chris Brown

American Idol 6 winner Jordin Sparks has confessed to having a crush on R&B heart-throb Chris Brown, but couldn’t pursue him because he is dating Barbados beauty Rihanna.
Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown collaborated on the duet “No Air,” but much to her dismay, love was not in the air as Rihanna came to the video shoot.
Ms. Sparks says, “Chris is so hot. I had a crush on him for a couple of years and, well, I still do.
“Rihanna came to the video shoot. I didn’t know they were dating - they were doing the ‘just good friends’ thing in the media - and I thought ‘Oooh, maybe I have a chance’. But it’s not to be. They are a sweet couple. I wish them all the best.”

Rick Ross Was The Man, Literally!

Miami rap star Rick Ross has been exposed as a former prison guard.
Florida Department of Corrections (DoC) records show that the gangster rapper worked as a correctional officer for 18 months, until he resigned from his post in June of 1997.
Rick Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts, vehemently denies this accusation, but a Freedom of Information request has turned up additional documents chronicling his penal career.
According to The Smoking Gun, DoC officials released Rick Ross’ 86-page personnel file in response to that request. The documents reveal that the 32-year-old was a 1994 graduate of Miami’s Carol City Senior High School and spent a year at Georgia’s Albany State College, where he studied Criminal Justice. …on the edge of your seat? Ciara Plasters Beauty On Billboard Magazine

R&B beauty Ciara graces the cover of Billboard Magazine’s August 2008 issue.
The “First Lady of Crunk & B” has a new album, “Fantasy Ride” coming out in November 2008. It will be released as an eclectic three-disc album, and each disc represents a distinct musical style.
The first disc entitled “Groove City” contains slow jams similar to Ciara’s Evolution single, “Promise”. The second disc called “Crunk Town” includes crunk-influenced tracks reminiscing “Goodies”. The third disc named “Kingdom of Dance” provides up-tempo house and freestyle-tinged cuts.
“My mission is to take fans on a musical journey to three different sounds that represent me,” Ciara says. “The music flows together. It’s about the journey and having fun through music. I can give you a basic album in a 12-song layout, but I wanted to be more creative.”

Ludacris & DJ Drama Present ‘The Preview’ Mixtape

Rap superstar Ludacris and DJ Drama have released a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape and they recently sat down to talk about it in Atlanta.
Ludacris has his sixth solo album, Theater Of The Mind, coming out soon “So with that said, we got the mixtape” the rapper said, continuing “You gonna get a mixture of freestyles, new songs, snippets from Theater of the Mind, [past] songs where samples couldn’t clear and make the album, but they still crazy-ass records. And me and Barack O’Drama talking a gang of shit. It’s as simple as that.”
DJ Drama jumped in saying “This shit is history. It’s the preview, the coming attractions. Get your popcorn.” Ludacris has many new movies coming out, including “RocknRolla” and “Max Payne,” and Luda says of the mixtape “Just as the name implies, the album is theatrical,” continuing “Conceptual-wise, every song you hear plays out like a scene from the movie. Whether it’s storytelling, me giving you the real of what’s going on in the world, you gotta look at it as your imagination is gonna run wild every song you hear.” Ludacris stays confident saying “I feel there is no rap style I cannot do,” continuing “Unlimited amounts of ways I can come on the microphone. Britney Spears Nominated For Best Female Music Video At MTV Awards

Pop princess Britney Spears has been nominated for Best Female Video for “Piece of Me” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“Piece of Me” will compete in the category against Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body,” Jordin Sparks’ “No Air,” Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” and Katy Perry’s chart-topping hit “I Kissed a Girl.”
Nominees for Best Male Music Video were also announced, and they include Usher’s “Love in This Club,” Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” Chris Brown’s “With You,” Flo Rida’s “Low” and T.I.’s latest hit “No Matter What.”
MTV’s 25th annual Video Music Awards show will be held September 7th in Hollywood at Paramount Pictures Studios, and will be hosted by “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star Russell Brand.
A year after Britney Spears’ disastrous performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, the “Toxic” singer is well on her way to a comeback. However, the big question remains, will she try to redeem herself by performing this time around?

Crack Kills: Amy Winehouse Has Emphysema

British trainwreck Amy Winehouse is suffering from a potentially deadly lung disease called emphysema, which is usually caused by heavy smoking and drug taking.
The Back to Black hitmaker’s father, Mitch, confirmed the news after she tested negative for tuberculosis on Friday.
He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper, “She’s got emphysema. It’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month, (doctors) painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe.
“With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 percent lung capacity.
“To think this could happen to my beautiful 24-year-old daughter’s life is preposterous. But if drugs mean more to her than breathing properly, then so be it. But the doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her…”
Mitch also claimed his daughter suffered another health scare during her time at the hospital, as a scan revealed a lump in her chest.
He added, “After lots of tests they found a lump in Amy’s chest. A scan has shown it’s not cancerous and there are no traces of cancer in her blood. But they might need to double check. There is a chance she might need a biopsy. If they need to cut the lump out then that will mean a massive and painful operation and a lot of recuperation. At the moment, that doesn’t look likely.”
Amy Winehouse is currently undergoing treatment for her condition, and doctors will soon decide whether she is fit to honor her upcoming performance commitments, including an appearance at the legendary Glastonbury music festival next weekend.

Kanye West Calls Soulja Boy The New Nas

Rap superstar Kanye West has written a post on his blog about the Ice-T vs. Soulja Boy beef. The Stronger hitmaker came to the defense of the 17-year-old rapper and said:
Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level shit… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. Old school rapper Ice-T has apologized to new school rapper Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em for telling him to “eat a dick”.
The “Cop Killer” hitmaker says he’s sorry for the comment, but Soulja Boy’s music is still garbage.
In a video posted on YouTube.com, the rapper-turned-actor alludes to a possible war between “Good Hip-Hop vs. Wack Hip-Hop”.
As the general of this war, Ice-T orders his son into battle. The 16-year-old then tells Soulja Boy to “eat a dick” because his music is wack.
You know what they say: “Like Father, Like Son”. SMH.
